Productivity at its Finest

The dread of Monday mornings have suddenly been compounded with our time in quarantine. Our days spent at home and online have been prolonged, while our productivity when prioritizing our own goals or work projects has been low. So how do we make sure to take advantage of each day? Here are three simple ideas to take into consideration when kicking off a productive week!

Break Out Your Day 

Believe it or not, we were not designed to work an 8-hour shift at full capacity – it’s just not natural! If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been in a fog or experienced restlessness while seated at your desk, it’s a good sign that you’re due for a break. Instead of treating your day like one full 8-hour period, split it up! One of the best ways to do this is by dividing your work into 90 minute chunks, with 15-30 minute breaks in between. Depending on whether you want to go for a run in the morning, or sneak in a quick episode of The Office while eating lunch, it’s important that you use this time to get away from your work!

Go with the Flow

It’s surprising how a simple to-do list can work wonders for your day. Give yourself a reasonable amount of items to achieve for the day, along with a timeline on when you’d like each item to be completed (ie. Before noon) Instead of honing in your multi-tasking skills, remove all distractions and try concentrating on one task at a time so that you can give each item your full attention before moving onto the next. This will allow you to not only accomplish more in less time, but also keep a clear mind when doing so. 

Clean up your S#*t 

A cluttered room is a cluttered mind, so tidy up before you start your day. The first step to de-cluttering is starting by making your bed. We don’t want to sound like your mom here, but maybe (just maybe) your mom was right in forcing you to take the time to make your bed every morning when you were a kid. It completely transforms the look of your room and gives you an instant sense of accomplishing even the smallest of tasks before starting your day.
